While some noted that Wi-Fi could be spotty, others found it to be a refreshing break from technology. Overall, Catlins Inn Camp is a solid choice for those seeking a laid-back experience in the heart of New Zealand’s beautiful landscapes.
Behind the Catlins Inn, south of Balclutha, is a tiny wee camp, with 12 tent sites, and 8 powered sites. Unfortunately there is no kitchen, and the showers and toilets are very basic but clean and well maintained. A small laundry area houses a twin tub washing machine. The public dump station is 200m away, as is the museum, information centre, and fuel station. Eat in at the Inn, or grab a takeaway, this area may be okay for an overnight stop.
