Review Summary:

Rangitata South River Reserve, located in New Zealand, offers a serene getaway for nature lovers and campers. While some guests appreciate the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere, reviews on platforms like Google and TripAdvisor highlight a few concerns. Visitors often mention that the facilities could use improvement, particularly the cleanliness of bathrooms and picnic areas. Many enjoyed the fishing opportunities and scenic walks by the river, while others noted that the access can be tricky, especially after rain. Overall, while the reserve has potential for a lovely escape, attention to maintenance and access would enhance the experience for future guests.

Description:

Please note that this campground is now CLOSED.

On the south side of the Rangitata River, this camp is set on flat grounds close to the river mouth and sea. Dedicated fisherman and can stretch stories about the salmon, trout, cod or shark they caught. Pine
hedges supply a wind break to the 35 sites with power and as many again for
tents, many of these are taken by permanents. A small kitchen has a freezer for
your catch, a dining table, and the washing machine is in here too. The ablutions
have toilets and metered hot showers. There is an outside fish cleaning sink provided.
The camp opens early September, coinciding with fishing seasons, and is open through until Easter weekend, catering for fishers and campers.
